Baseball’s Hall of Famers Spill the Tea: Ocean City’s Frank Coppenbarger Gets Baseball’s Biggest Legends to Talk
The name Frank Coppenbarger might not ring a bell unless you frequent dog walk/social hour at the Gardens pocket park, or you’re a professional baseball insider. What about Larry Bowa, Curt Schilling, Jayson Werth, Chris Wheeler, or Ozzie Smith? Now those are household names! These stars are just a handful of the incredible guests Frank has hosted on his must-listen podcast: Planes, Trains, Buses & Ballparks.
The Man Who Moved Mountains (and Teams)
Frank Coppenbarger didn’t just spend time in Major League Baseball—he spent 38 years keeping the machine running. Starting with the St. Louis Cardinals as Assistant Clubhouse Manager, Frank was quickly recognized for a skill set that goes beyond the field. Imagine the logistics: Moving an entire professional baseball club—including players, their families, coaches, staff, and all the uniforms, equipment, and luggage—from city to city, all by planes, trains, and buses. During his career, Frank was a part of two World Series-winning teams. The first was with the Cardinals and the second was with the Phillies as Clubhouse Manager and Director of Team Travel and Clubhouse Services.

That unique career gave Frank the ultimate access to baseball’s biggest stars. Now he’s calling on his network of legendary friends to share unforgettable stories. His guest list isn’t limited to just players; he features all levels of team staff, managers, umpires, front office personnel, and even the former President of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The episodes are packed with unbelievable tales:
- Hear Curt Schilling describe his less-than-warm welcome to the Phillies locker room.
- Listen to Frank tell the hilarious story of getting pulled over for speeding in the desert with baseball legend Satchel Paige as his passenger.
- Gain insights from Hall of Famers like Pat Gillick and Jim Kaat.
The star power keeps coming! This month alone, Frank is scheduled to be joined by Phillies great and Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, followed by future Hall of Famer Terry Francona.
Now retired from professional baseball and living in Ocean City, Frank lends his years of experience and love of the game to the local baseball scene. Frank is an Assistant Coach for the Ocean City High School Varsity Baseball team. In 2021, his very first season with the team, Ocean City won their first ever Group 3 State Championship.

Frank Coppenbarger’s podcast, Planes, Trains, Buses & Ballparks, offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the national pastime through the eyes of the people who live it. The show is hosted by The Fans First Network and is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your favorite content.
