Catch NASA’s TOMEX+ Rocket Launch from Ocean City Tonight
NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility is scheduled to launch its Turbulent Oxygen Mixing Experiment Plus (TOMEX+) mission tonight, Monday, August 25th. The TOMEX+ mission will study a highly turbulent region at the edge of space. Located on Wallops Island, Virginia, the NASA Wallops Flight Facility is the premier location for suborbital and small orbital activities, and supports commercial resupply missions to the International Space Station.
The TOMEX+ mission utilized a series of three rockets to collect data and provided a unique 3D view of the turbulence. The goal of the mission is to help improve our understanding of high-altitude cloud formation, satellite drag, and atmospheric processes on other planets.
