Catch NASA’s TOMEX+ Rocket Launch from Ocean City Tonight

OCNJ Local- TOMEX rocket launch

NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility is scheduled to launch its Turbulent Oxygen Mixing Experiment Plus (TOMEX+) mission tonight, Monday, August 25th. The TOMEX+ mission will study a highly turbulent region at the edge of space. Located on Wallops Island, Virginia, the NASA Wallops Flight Facility is the premier location for suborbital and small orbital activities, and supports commercial resupply missions to the International Space Station.

The TOMEX+ mission utilized a series of three rockets to collect data and provided a unique 3D view of the turbulence. The goal of the mission is to help improve our understanding of high-altitude cloud formation, satellite drag, and atmospheric processes on other planets.

Tonight’s launch window opens at 10 pm and should be visible from Ocean City. The rocket should be visible in the sky approximately 10 to 30 seconds after launch. For the latest updates on missions and news, you can follow NASA Wallops on their social media pages:
