Fox & Roach Realtors Donate to OCNJ CARE to Help Local Students
Every school year, the Ocean City community comes together to ensure that local students have the necessary supplies to succeed. For the past five years, OCNJ CARE has been at the forefront of this effort, distributing backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students in Ocean City and its sending districts. This initiative is made possible through a generous donation from FoxRoach Charities, the charitable arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Realtors.
OCNJ CARE, which stands for Ocean City, New Jersey, Clean-up and Recovery Effort, was founded in October 2011 in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. The organization quickly became a lifeline for residents and business owners, utilizing donations from across the country to help the community recover and get back on its feet. OCNJ CARE was revitalized at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with volunteers providing essential items such as masks, gloves, groceries, hot meals, and medicine, with a special focus on school-aged children, seniors, and individuals with underlying medical conditions.
Steve Booth, an Ocean City native and Regional Manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Realtors, saw the incredible work OCNJ CARE was doing and wanted to help. Recognizing the alignment between the two organizations’ missions, he brought in the support of FoxRoach Charities, which is funded directly by the company’s agents and employees.
Each year, FoxRoach Charities purchases colorful backpacks and a wide array of school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, colored pens, and glue sticks. Agents and staff then take time to stuff the bags, preparing them for distribution to students in need.
“FoxRoach Charities is funded by our agents and employees and is aimed at giving back to the community we serve,” said Steve Booth. “We make a point of benefiting local families in need.”
Families can pick up backpacks and supplies on Saturday, August 30th, from 5-6 PM, at the Richard Grimes Field at 6th Street and Haven Avenue, located behind the Ocean City Primary School.
