Ocean City Fire Department Hosts Annual Open House on October 9th
The Ocean City Fire Department (OCFD), in partnership with IAFF Local 4032, is inviting the community to its annual Fire Department Open House on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The free event will take place at the Fire Department Headquarters, located at 550 Asbury Avenue, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Coinciding with National Fire Prevention Week, this year’s Open House centers on the critical theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”
The campaign will educate the public on the safe use of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries—power sources found in countless everyday electronics, including cell phones, laptops, e-bikes, and power tools. With a growing number of fire incidents linked to these batteries, the event will stress the importance of following three simple steps: buy safely, charge safely, and recycle safely.
Attendees can look forward to a full evening of interactive and educational activities, including:
- Live-Burn Demonstration: Local 4032 members will showcase the department’s fire suppression capabilities with an engaging live-burn demonstration, offering a firsthand look at the power and speed of fire.
- Helicopter Landing: A JeffSTAT helicopter will be on-site, providing a unique opportunity to see an essential emergency response vehicle up close.
- Electrical Safety Presentation: A team from Atlantic City Electric will conduct a presentation on electrical safety, providing vital tips for preventing household hazards.
- Community Fun: In addition to the fire safety demonstrations, the event is set to feature family-friendly activities, food, drinks, and giveaways.
The annual Open House is a cornerstone of the OCFD’s community outreach efforts, allowing residents to meet the dedicated firefighters, tour the station, and learn essential safety practices that can save lives. The event is a chance for the community to learn more about the department’s operations and the commitment of the local firefighters’ union.
The rain date for the Open House is scheduled for Friday, October 10.
