Ocean City Football Shuts Out Oakcrest in Season Opener
The Ocean City High School football team, under new head coach Sean Matthews, opened its season with a decisive 32-0 victory over Oakcrest. The Red Raiders were locked in a tight 6-0 battle at halftime before breaking the game open in the second half.
Coach Matthews praised his team’s resilience, noting there were “lots of moments where we could have let a mistake or a bad play bury us. They leaned on each other and fought for 48 minutes”. At halftime, the message from the coaches was clear: “To the defense: they don’t score, we win, and to the offense: focus on the details & do your job”.
The Red Raiders will travel to Eastern for their next game on September 4th. Coach Matthews emphasized the importance of preparation, saying, “Practice is everything for us. We need to beat Eastern this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday”.
