Small Business, Big Heart: Little Travelers Launches Free Adaptive Stroller Program
For many families, a trip to the Jersey Shore is defined by sun, sand, and boardwalk memories. But for families traveling with children who have autism or physical disabilities, the logistics of navigating those very same landmarks can be a daunting challenge. Recognizing a significant gap in local support, the team at Little Travelers is stepping up to ensure that every child can experience the magic of the coast.
This month, the locally owned baby gear rental company officially launched its Free Specialized & Adaptive Stroller Rental Program. In a move that prioritizes community impact over profit, the program provides high-quality, specialized equipment to visiting families at absolutely no cost.
The initiative was born from the firsthand observations of Little Travelers founder, Jill Middleton. Middleton noticed that while standard baby gear was easy to obtain, families requiring adaptive equipment were often left to fend for themselves, struggling to transport bulky, expensive, and essential equipment from home.
“When it comes to adaptive and specialized equipment for children at the Shore, families are often on their own, and we recognize this,” Middleton shared. “We don’t believe this should be a profit-driven space. We’re here to support families and help them create memories at the shore that they will remember forever. That is the core goal of our company.”
The new fleet is designed to accommodate a wide range of needs, featuring:
-
Specialized strollers capable of supporting children up to 110 pounds.
-
Adaptive strollers designed for children up to 85 pounds.
By providing these tools at no cost, Little Travelers is removing the physical and financial barriers that often prevent families from fully enjoying the boardwalks and beaches in Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Avalon, and Stone Harbor.
The program made its community debut on February 14th during the Mike’s Seafood Run/Walk for Autism, held in conjunction with the Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation. The launch highlights Little Travelers’ deep integration into the local community and its commitment to advocacy.
The giving doesn’t stop at equipment. Little Travelers has also launched a dedicated resource page on its website. This hub serves as a guide for families, highlighting local programs, services, and accessible resources across the Jersey Shore to ensure their entire vacation is as stress-free as possible.
As a 2025 Ocean City Chamber of Commerce Award winner, Little Travelers has already established a reputation for excellence. With this new initiative, they are cementing their role as a “mom-and-pop” business with a massive heart, proving that small businesses can lead the way in making the Jersey Shore a more inclusive destination for everyone.
