Ocean City Chamber Celebrates Strong 2026 Summer Season

As beach gear is stored away and post-Labor Day routines begin, the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce is celebrating a successful summer season in 2026, characterized by crowded boardwalks, lively downtown shops, and fully booked hotels.

During its recent Board of Directors meeting, Chamber leaders reviewed sector-specific reports from “America’s Greatest Family Resort.” The overall agreement was clear: 2026 experienced consistent consumer interest and strong family travel, supporting a healthy and profitable economy throughout the island.

The town’s success was evident everywhere. Hotels, motels, and vacation rentals stayed mostly booked during peak season, while downtown restaurants and boardwalk establishments saw steady visitors and lively dining areas. Shops along Asbury Avenue and the boards profited from regular spending by both day-trippers and longer-term vacationers. Additionally, a busy schedule of community events attracted reliable crowds, ensuring continuous business for nearby stores.

“We are very pleased with what we are hearing from our members,” said Patrick McMahon, President of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce. “Our businesses put in an incredible amount of work to make the summer season successful, and it is great to hear that their efforts paid off. Across our hotels and restaurants, retailers, and event organizers, there is a real sense of pride in what Ocean City accomplished this year.”

McMahon highlighted that the successful season was due to a joint community effort, including local merchants, frontline staff, residents, volunteers, and seasonal visitors.

“None of this happens because of one business or one organization,” McMahon noted. “It takes all of us — our business owners, employees, residents, volunteers, and visitors — working together. Ocean City has a tremendous business community, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make 2026 such a positive season.”

Shifting Into ‘Second Summer’

Although the busy summer period has faded, the Chamber is now leveraging that energy to boost Ocean City’s lively shoulder season. Local officials are consistently reminding both visitors and residents that the island stays open for business well beyond Labor Day.

“Our message is simple: the summer may be over, but Ocean City is not,” McMahon said. “We have businesses open throughout the fall, winter, and spring, and there are plenty of reasons to visit Ocean City beyond the traditional summer season. We encourage visitors and local residents alike to continue supporting our businesses and to discover everything Ocean City has to offer throughout the year.”
