Ocean City Environmental Commission Hosts Emergency Preparedness Seminar Thursday

With coastal storm season in full swing, Ocean City residents and property owners have an opportunity to sharpen their severe weather readiness this week.

The Ocean City Environmental Commission is sponsoring a free, public presentation on emergency preparedness this Thursday, September 17, at 6:00 p.m. The session will take place inside the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall at the Ocean City Free Public Library, located at 1735 Simpson Avenue.

The informative evening brings together two of South Jersey’s foremost coastal weather and safety authorities:

• Frank Donato, Ocean City Emergency Management Director

• Jim Eberwine, retired National Weather Service meteorologist

Attendees will learn practical strategies to stay safe, connected, and informed during major weather events, including tropical systems, nor’easters, severe summer squalls, and routine coastal flooding.

In addition to sharing emergency response protocols, Donato will walk attendees through municipal resources and digital tools available on the city’s official website (www.ocnj.us). The presentation will highlight how residents can track tides, anticipate flood risks, and monitor real-time road conditions before high water impacts their neighborhoods.

Admission is free, no advance registration is required, and all community members are encouraged to attend.
