New Weekly ‘Sandcastle Park Entertainment Series’ Brings Family Fun to South End Starting Wednesday
Ocean City’s south end is getting a major dose of weekly family fun this summer.
The city has announced the launch of the brand-new 34th Street Sandcastle Park Summer Entertainment Series, a free weekly event designed to bring neighbors and visitors together for evenings packed with music, activities, and community spirit.
The series kicks off this Wednesday, July 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sandcastle Park, located on the 3400 block between West Avenue and Asbury Avenue.
A ‘Mummers Strut’ to Kick Things Off
Opening night will feature a classic Jersey Shore tradition with a “Mummers Strut Kickoff,” headlined by the lively Pennsport String Band.
But the music is just the beginning. The kickoff event will turn Sandcastle Park into a full-blown block party, featuring:
- Face-painters and balloon artists for the kids
- A live DJ keeping the energy high
- A visit from the Ocean City Free Public Library’s Bookmobile
- And plenty of additional family activities
The entertainment series will return to Sandcastle Park every single Wednesday through August 19, promising a fresh, new theme each week to keep the summer vibe rolling.

This new community staple is entirely free to attend, made possible by a strong lineup of local businesses stepping up to support the south end.
Uncle Bill’s Pancake House—a local favorite with deep roots on the island, including nearby spots at 21st & Asbury and 40th & West—is serving as the presenting sponsor for the series.
